Everyone can be part of the food for life partnership

Together, we are revolutionising school meals, reconnecting young people with where their food comes from and inspiring to grow and cook food.

Awards ceremonies

On the 2nd of December ethical and sustainable food hero Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall presented Food for Life Partnership Silver and Gold Awards to schools who have excelled in transforming their food culture in the South of England. In true Food for Life Partnership style the award ceremony event included farm tours and cooking with own-grown produce and pupils, teachers, caterers, farmers and policymakers were invited to join in the celebrations.

And on the 4th of February Soil Association president Monty Don presented awards to schools at the Midlands Awards Ceremony, which took place at the Soil Association annual conference in Birmingham. After the ceremony Monty Don joined young people from Food for Life Partnership schools in a Q&A session focusing on ‘Schools, food and the future’. Also taking part in the discussion were Food for Life Partnership director, Emma Noble, school meals policy advisor, Jeanette Orrey and organic farmer, Mark Lea.

Food, Inc and the Food for Life Partnership

In the new film 'Food, Inc', which premieres today, film maker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on the food industry, exposing how our food supply is controlled by a handful of multi-national corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health and the environment.

Robert Kenner and food expert and writer Eric Schlosser, who is interviewed in the film, went to visit St John the Baptist School - a Food for Life Partnership Flagship school in London.

Eric Schlosser comments:
"People have forgotten where their food comes from… The Food for Life Partnership is exactly the sort of change that we need – It’s immediate, it’s concrete and for a relatively small investment it can have profound long-term impact for the better."
