On the 2nd of December ethical and sustainable food hero Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall presented Food for Life Partnership Silver and Gold Awards to schools who have excelled in transforming their food culture in the South of England. In true Food for Life Partnership style the award ceremony event included farm tours and cooking with own-grown produce and pupils, teachers, caterers, farmers and policymakers were invited to join in the celebrations. Food, Inc and the Food for Life Partnership In the new film 'Food, Inc', which premieres today, film maker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on the food industry, exposing how our food supply is controlled by a handful of multi-national corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health and the environment. Robert Kenner and food expert and writer Eric Schlosser, who is interviewed in the film, went to visit St John the Baptist School - a Food for Life Partnership Flagship school in London. Garden Organic is launching a campaign this year perfect for Food for Life Partnership schools to get involved in. The One Pot Pledge aims to get as many people having a go at growing their own food in pots in 2010. If your school would like to take part visit the One Pot Pledge website from March onwards. |
